The Ada High School boys soccer game vs. Tiffin Columbian was cancelled after a weather long delay on Saturday evening. They will entertain New Knoxville Monday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m.
After a long weather delay, the Ada High School girls soccer team bested Tiffin Columbian 4-1 under the lights on the wet turf of War Memorial Park Stadium Park on Saturday, August 20.
The team improved to 2-0 with the impressive win. They have outscored their opposition 13-1 so far this season.
"We played a very good Tiffin team," said Ada head coach Doug Dewese. "Last year's game was a 7-0 Ada win and this Tiffin team was vastly improved.
The 2022 Ada High School boys golf program will be under the tutelage of a new head coach for the first time in a decade.
Recent assistant Kurt Klingler now assumes the reins of a small, inexperienced team. The Bulldog linksters have had only two head coaches for the past 25 years in Mike Badertscher and Jason Campbell.
Klingler welcomes back two lettermen and three newcomers to the five-man Bulldog squad this season.
"We are very young and very inexperienced," said Klingler. "We only have two players with experience in competitive golf. We picked up a senior and two freshmen to go with the two returning players.
Year two of the Toby Smith regime at Ada sees the Bulldog football program looking to make another stride towards improved competitiveness in 2022.
"The players know a lot more about what to expect from me," Smith offered. "They understand more, so the learning curve is less.
"Last year we had too many 14 year olds playing against 18 year olds," the coach offered. "This year, hopefully we will not have a single freshman starter."
Roster numbers are up to 35 this season, with 14 lettermen back from the 1-9 Ada squad that went 0-7 in Northwest Conference play. Seven starters return on both sides of the ball.
Host Ada High School football team played Waynesfield-Goshen tough but lost 28-0 in the season opener at War Memorial Park Stadium on a warm Friday night.
The Tigers took the lead on the first play of the season, a long kickoff Grant Breitigam return for a touchdown, and never trailed.
"He got a couple good blocks, hit a crease and made a nice run," said W-G head coach Shane Wireman. "That got us the momentum and settled us down early. That was the key play to the whole game, I think."
Ada won the toss but deferred the opening kickoff.
