LIMA – The Ada High School swim teams competed well at the Div. II sectional meet in the Lima YMCA on February 8, with eight Bulldogs qualifying for districts.
Ada senior Lily Baumgartner captured two individual sectional championships. She touched first in the 100-yard butterfly and 100 backstroke races, automatically advancing her to districts.
She is on a quest for her fourth straight trip to the state meet in Canton.
“Everyone did amazing,” said Ada head coach Ashley Robey. “Eighty-five percent of events we swam were personal-bests.
ADA – The Ada High School boys basketball team was seeded sixth in their tough Elida Northwest 4 Div. VI sectional drawing Sunday, February 9.
The Bulldogs (13-7) play at top seed Lima Central Catholic (13-6) Friday, February 21 at 7 p.m. Ada also played the Thunderbirds in the first round last year, giving LCC a tough game before they advanced to state.
The Ada/LCC survivor advances to take on the victor between third seed Bluffton (12-7) and fifth seed Wayne Trace (11-8) Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 7:15 p.m. in the Elida district semifinals.
ADA - The Ada High School girls basketball team got off to a slow start, rallied but ultimately lost 61-40 to Blanchard Valley Conference foe Pandora-Gilboa on February 4.
Ada fell behind 20-2 but battled back within six points at one point early in the third quarter. The Bulldog girls cut the deficit to nine twice in the fourth period, but could get no closer.
The Bulldogs were outscored only 24-23 over the middle quarters. P-G won the first and fourth periods by a combined total of 37-17.
The Ada girls fell to 4-17 overall and finished 0-10 in the BVC after the loss that ended a two-game win streak. The contest concluded their first campaign in the new league.
NOTE: The home Ada High School boys and girls basketball games scheduled for February 8 against North Baltimore have been rescheduled for Tues., February 11.

PANDORA – The visiting Ada High School boys basketball team stymied Blanchard Valley Conference rival Pandora-Gilboa 50-21 on Friday, February 7.
Ada jumped to a 14-2 lead after the first quarter and was not threatened.
The Bulldogs led 24-13 at halftime. Ada authored a 15-2 third period with stifling defense to put the game out of reach. The purple and gold won the final stanza 11-6 to blast the Rockets 28-6 in the second half.
