Ada matmen 8th at league meet

SPENCERVILLE – Ada High School junior Clayton McClain won the 144 lbs. division title as the Bulldog wrestling team finished eighth at the Northwest Conference championship meet in Spencerville Friday, February 10.
Second-seeded McClain authored a perfect 5-0 record in his 144 lbs. weight bracket to sweep to the title. He won two matches by decision and three more by pin to claim the crown.
McClain decisioned top-seeded Crestview junior Levi Grace 10-6 to clinch first place.
Columbus Grove unseated Allen East as league champion with 285.5 points, finishing well ahead of Spencerville (215.5) and AE (201.5).
Ada freshman Silas Riblet finished second at 106 lbs. He posted a 2-1 record with two pins. He lost to top seed Aizik Myers of Crestview in the de facto title bout.
Bulldog sophomore Liam Vieira finished third in the 132 lbs. division. He posted a 2-2 record with a pair of pins.
Ada scored 87 points to finish a point behind Bluffton.
Junior Owen Arnett was 2-3 in the 165 lbs. bracket to finish sixth.
Sophomore Logan Jolliff went 0-3 in the 138 lbs. bracket.
Sophomore Landon Simon was 0-4 to come in fifth at the 175 lbs. class.
