Improving Ada High School football hosts Crestview in its sixth and final home game of the 2022 season this Friday, October 14.
Crestview is 4-4 and 1-4 in the Northwest Conference after outscoring Spencerville 14-0 in the second half en route to a 21-7 win on the road in week eight.
Ada is 2-3 at home, while Crestview is 2-1 on the road.
The Knights started out 3-0 in non-league play, but then lost four in a row before bouncing back to beating the Bearcats.
Crestview's three non-conference foes have a combined record of 6-18.
The three Ada non-league foes have amassed a combined mark of 20-4. The Bulldogs competed well but lost 38-12 at tough Columbus Grove last Friday.
"Crestview is getting healthy at the right time," said Ada head coach Toby Smith. "We are going to have to play a complete game if we wish to compete.
"We feel like we are playing some of our best football right now. Hopefully we have a good week of practice so we are ready when Crestview comes in on Friday," he added.
Wren Sheets averages 94 receiving yards per game for the Knights.
The Knights lost 17-14 to Bluffton and 21-7 to Delphos Jefferson 21-7. They also fell to Grove 31-6 and beat the Bearcats as the fourth common opponent with Ada.
The Bulldogs lost 31-7 at Bluffton and 48-21 at home to DJ. Ada also beat Spencerville, 33-28.
Ada is rated 18th in the Div. 7, Region 26 rankings, while Crestview is just ahead of them in 17th due to playing a weaker schedule. But there is a decent gap in points since the Knight have won two more games.
The top 16 teams in each region make it to the playoffs. A Bulldog upset of the Knights could put them in contention for their first spot in the postseason since 2017.
