Women conclude season with strong performance
NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The No. 9-ranked Ohio Northern women's outdoor track and field team capped its regular season with a strong showing at the North Central (Ill.) Gregory Invitational on Thursday afternoon.
No team scores were kept in the meet.
Senior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) led the way with a second place finish in the 400-meter dash, finishing in a season-best :56.49 and moving into 19th place nationally in the event.
Sophomore Taylor Lavey (New Baltimore, Mich./Findlay) posted the second fastest time in the prelims of the 100-meter dash, finishing in :12.64, while junior Avery Ewing(Kokomo, Ind./Eastern) added a fourth place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:14.29, moving her into 33rd place nationally in the event.
Junior Taylor Fisher (Wapakoneta) joined Richards, Ewing and Lavey in the 4x400-meter relay, where they posted a third place finish in the event in a season-best 3:52.23 and moving into 17th place nationally in the event.
Freshman Stella DeWitt (Weston/Cardinal Stritch Catholic) also competed in the meet, finishing fifth in the long jump with a leap of 17' 9" and finishing seventh in the triple jump with a jump of 36' 1.25".
Northern will await the final qualifying lists for next weekends Div. III National Championships in LaCrosse, Wisconsin from May 24-26.
