NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Ohio Northern women's track and field team excelled as it competed in the annual Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) College in Naperville this weekend.
No teams score were kept in the meet.
On day one of the meet, junior Kristina Myers (Orient/Central Crossing) ran a season-best time of 19:10.50 in the 5,000-meter run, while junior Ashlie Baumann (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson) finished the race in 18:07.46 and freshman Megan Wright(Eaton/Twin Valley South) finished in 19:17.28.
Sophomore Maggie Krause (Chagrin Falls/Kenston), currently holding the nations seventh best vault, competed at the Baldwin Wallace Harrison Dillard Twilight meet, posting a third place finish in the pole vault with a leap of 11' 10.5".
On the second day of the meet, senior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) set the pace, posting a first place finish in the 1,500-meter run in 4:24.70.
Freshman Stella DeWitt (Weston / Cardinal Stritch Catholic) posted a fifth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 17' 4.75", while sophomore Taylor Lavey (New Baltimore, Mich./Findlay) finished eighth overall in the 100-meter dash in :12.53.
In the 800-meter run, junior Avery Ewing (Kokomo, Ind./Eastern) posted a season-best time, finishing 12th in the event in 2:15.72, while junior Taylor Fisher(Wapakoneta) finished 15th in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.87.
Senior Danielle Sutter (Fort Recovery) continued the strong showing for Northern as she bested her season-best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and finished 18th overall in 11:33.36.
The Polar Bear 4x400-meter relay team would wrap the meet up with a solid second place finish in the event, posting a team-best time of 3:55.66.
Northern will return to action next week as it returns to Naperville to compete in the North Central (Ill.) Gregory Invitational from May 16-17.
