Will women's basketball make it 5 OAC titles in a row?
After posting the first undefeated regular season in school history and first undefeated Ohio Athletic Conference schedule in four years in 2016-17, the Ohio Northern women's basketball team will look to challenge for its fourth consecutive OAC title and compete on a national level once again under 17th-year head coach Michele Durand.
The Polar Bears historic 2016-17 season concluded in the Elite 8 round of the NCAA III Tournament after ONU completed the first undefeated regular season in school history and climbed to as high as No. 5 nationally in both the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and D3Hoops.com polls.
Durand and her staff welcome back a deep roster that includes 11 letter winners and three starters from last season's team.
"I'm excited to get this season started," said head coach Michele Durand. "We obviously had a pretty good year last season, but I really want this team to be their own team. We've got different players and a different schedule. Last season is kind of in the rear view and I'm confident this team can have success this season."
