ONU cheerleaders and cheer coaches offer cheer clinic Jan. 31
The Ohio Northern University cheerleaders and their coaches are gearing up to share their cheer knowledge and skills with anyone in kindergarten through grade 12, at their cheer clinic from 12-2:15 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 at King-Horn Center. The clinic ends with a performance at halftime of the ONU versus Mount Union men's basketball game that afternoon.
Participants will learn proper motion and jump techniques, basic stunting and tumbling techniques, and a dance routine that will be performed at halftime of the game.
Those attending will be divided into mini-squads by age. Following an assessment, those with previous stunting and tumbling experience will be placed into an appropriate mini-squad (not necessarily by age.)
According to the coaches, proper athletic attire is required to participate and no jewelry of any kind should be worn. Each participant should bring a water bottle labeled with his/her name.
Females must wear a t-shirt and cheer shorts/Spandex shorts. Hair must be secured out of faces and off of necks. Males must wear a t-shirtf and shorts. For safety reasons, coaches prefer that flat tennis shoes be worn.
