Who was that masked man? Here's Ada's Halloween schedule
Halloween is on lots of Ada calendars this month. There are several opportunities for young and old interested in dressing up for this year’s events. Here’s the local schedule:
Tuesday, Oct. 21 – Ohio Northern University’s annual trick or treat night. From 5 to 7 p.m. events take place in McIntosh Activities Room. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m.
Children of all ages are encouraged to dress up and join the fun with ONU students. Children must be accompanied by an adult to attend.
Monday, Oct. 27 – Ada Kiwanis invite participants to its annual Halloween parade. It forms behind the Municipal Building on Buckeye Street. Registration is at 5:30 p.m. and the parade is at 6 p.m.
Costume categories are:
• Prettiest
• Scariest
• Most original
Costume judging by age groups:
• Preschool and kindergarten
• 1st and 2nd grades
• 3rd and 4th grades
• 5th and 6th grades
• Groups any age and pets
• Adults (most original only)
• Ada HS band

Monday, Oct. 27 –
• From 5 to 8 p.m., a “Spooktacular Sale!” will take place by several participating downtown businesses.
• 5 to 7 p.m. in the depot is a soup and pie cook off. The Buy Local Committee sponsors the soup cook off. Residents may sample and vote for their favorite soup. The chamber sponsors the pie contest. All pies entered will be judged by local chefs and restaurant owners.
Pie contest categories:
• Best pumpkin pie
• Most original pie
• Best fruit pie
• Best crème pie
Winners of each category will receive $25. The pie contest is open to the public. Participants must deliver their pies to the depot by 5 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 30 – Ada trick-or-treat hour are 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
