The Ada Barnyard Farmers 4-H Club met on Sunday, July 13, at 3 pm. The meeting was called to order by President Alexis Amburgey. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Melia Santillanez and the 4-H Pledge was led by Hope Hazelton. Roll call was done by Secretary Shelby Hazelton, there were 22 members present.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Secretary Shelby Hazelton. The Treasurer’s report was given by Treasurer Brice Ferguson. Health and Safety Officer Hope Hazelton gave a report. Committee reports were given by President Alexis Amburgey.
The Advisors gave a report which included the Clover Award forms would be filled out and turned in that day. It was announced as a reminder that July 14th was general project judging, and any member taking a non-livestock project needed to be judged.
It was moved by Ella Badertscher and seconded by Dakota Butler to adjourn the meeting.
Demonstrations were given by Caralee Stover on Water-bath canning, Kaitlyn and McKenzie Long on the equipment and rules of soccer, and Ella Badertscher on the parts of a hog. Refreshments were provided by Dakota Butler and the Long family, and recreation was led by Austin Amburgey.
The Barnyard Farmers met again on Sunday, August 3rd, at 6 pm. The meeting was called to order by President Alexis Amburgey. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Austin Amburgey and the 4-H Pledge was led by Hannah Beach. Roll call was done by Secretary Shelby Hazelton, and there were 21 members present.
A committee report was given by President Alexis Amburgey. The Advisor’s report included the upcoming Farmers and Merchants Picnic. The club will put on a petting zoo after the parade and members were encouraged to sign up to help. Announcements included livestock judging on August 5th, all members should be judged that day.
It was moved by Melia Santillanez and seconded by Hannah Beach to adjourn the meeting.
Demonstrations were given by Melia Santillanez on the parts of a horse and Wyatt Badertscher on Ohio Agriculture. Refreshments were provided by the Santillanez and Badertscher families.
After the conclusion of demonstrations and snacks, members split up into groups by animal and practiced goat, poultry, and rabbit showmanship. The next meeting will be held August 24th at 6 pm. This will also be a showmanship practice meeting.
