“Save Some Skin” Health Outreach Program
Everyone knows The Beatle’s song--“Here comes the sun. Here comes the sun. And I say it’s all right.”  After the winter we’ve had, seeing the sun is a welcomed sight.  However, what are you doing to make it all right?

Skin cancer is the #1 cancer in the US and incidences are increasing because of our exposure to the UVA and UVB rays of the sun. So what are your strategies to “Save Some Skin” yet enjoy the sun?

Barbara Reichart, OSU Medical Student, Class of 2014, will be joining the OSU Extension staff at our display during the Hardin Memorial Hospital’s annual community health fair on Wednesday, April 30th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to talk with you about the risks, concerns, and strategies to “Save Some Skin.”

The Health Fair is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Community Building on the Hardin County Fairgrounds in Kenton. Participants will have the opportunity to look into the Derma-View Machine and see first-hand the areas on their face that have had extreme sun exposure.  Health fair-goers will receive samples of sunscreen and instruction on how and when to apply, and photosensitive beads to be a visual reminder of the sun’s UV rays.

This health educational outreach is sponsored by OSU Extension and the Hardin County Homemaker’s Council using funding from the Hardin County Community Foundation.  For more details, contact Kathy Oliver at 419-674-2297 or e-mail  [email protected]
