Hardin County Hootenannies 4-H Club organnizes

By Faith Holbrook

The first meeting of the Hardin County Hootenannies was held at the Ag Credit meeting room.  We want to thank Ag Credit for this opportunity to meet in such a nice place.

The meeting was called to order by president Laura Spradlin.  Advisor Ray Davis asked if everyone saw the newspaper article that told about changes in the goat show and some other rules for the fair.

Some of the changes are:
• You can show a market doe or a market wether.
• There will be 2 shows judged by two different judges: The first will start at 9 am and will begin with the Hardin Co Born and Raised Market Goats, then will go into the Showmanship classes.
• At noon the second show will begin in the fashion of previous years with the exception of showmanship.
• Another change at the fair is that the Just Kidding Around Fun Day on Sunday afternoon at 3 will now be in the goat tent to make it more convenient for the goats.

We talked about community services we would like to be a part of this year. Advisor Ron Rofe mentioned a few options:  Picking up trash on township roads, helping with flowers around the courthouse, or helping with the YMCA Jr Olympics.

We passed around a paper with possible dates for future meetings. We would like to meet at different member’s farms again this year.

Members were given the project ideas books.  Everyone needs to have those turned in at the next meeting along with your enrollment forms.

Officer elections will be done like the past couple years, where if you wish to run for office, you prepare a campaign speech and ask for member’s votes. Refreshments will be provided by Preston  Brien and Landyn Hijma.

Meadow and Callie Cromer’s family were honored with a National Milk Award and will be traveling to Missouri.  A BIG Congratulations to them!
