James Haney was a graduate of Alger High School
James Haney, 74, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at 7:42 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima, Ohio.
He was born on April 28, 1939 in Hardin County, Ohio, to Fred and Myrtle (Arnett) Haney and they preceded him in death. He married Ann Briley on May 21, 1967, and she survives in Wapakoneta.
He retired from Sheller Globe/Superior Coach Division in Lima after 25 years. He was a US Army veteran serving from 1962-1964 in South Korea. Heformerly attended the Pentecostal Tabernacle Church of Alger. He was a 1957 graduate of Alger High School.
Surviving are a son, James Edward "Eddie" Haney of Wapakoneta; 2 daughters, Dawn (Kevin) Warner of Wapakoneta and Darla Haney of Lima; 2 sisters, Irene (Jim) Oen of Wapakoneta and Jean (Bob) Halsell of Kenton; 5 grandchildren, Kala Warner, Sara Warner, Aubrey Granot, Renee Huddleston, and Alex Huddleston; and 1 great granddaughter, Violet Granot.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Haney; a daughter, Dianne Haney; 3 brothers, Carl, Charles, and Elmer Haney; and 3 sisters, Ruby Haney, Ethel Sawyer, & Hazel Collins.
Funeral services were Jan. 3, 2014 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger, with Rev. Becky Sunday officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger. Graveside Military Service to be performed by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
