The Ada High School Marching Band traveled to central Ohio to compete in two separate competitions on Saturday. 

The band departed Ada early Saturday morning and traveled to Carroll to compete in the Bloom-Carroll High School BC Classic. Despite cold, windy conditions, the band placed third and received an overall rating of Excellent. In addition, the Color Guard and Percussion earned top honors in Class C.

Following the awards ceremonies at Bloom-Carroll, the band loaded their instruments and equipment and traveled to Dresden to compete in the Tri-Valley Band Classic, hosted by Tr-Valley High School. 

The band performed their competition show "Invasion: The Mystery of Stonehenge"  Sherry Maier, band parent and spectator said, "This was their best performance yet!"   The band again placed third out of five Class C schools and was once again awarded Best Color Guard. They received a rating of Excellent. 

"Invasion: The Mystery of Stonehenge" is the band's version of what might have caused the mysterious stone monuments. Dressed in black with bright green splashes of color, the band performs a complex musical score while executing precision marching movements. 

The color guard portrays possible alien influences using beautiful green flags, rifles and sabres. Guard members not only twirl and toss flags, sabres and rifles, but also perform complicated dance sequences. 

The band is under the direction of Jonathan Lischak. The color guard is led by Amy Webb.  Color Guard Captain is senior Justina Fuqua. The Field Commanders are sophomore Chanler Hughart and senior Anabel Pinkney. 

The band can next be seen at halftime of the Bulldog football game Saturday, Nov. 2, at Lima Stadium in a game hosted by Lima Central Catholic. Following that, the band will travel to Indianapolis to compete in the national Bands Of America competition Nov. 14-16.
