Hardin Dems will have booth at Harvest and Herb Fest

Eighteen Central and Executive Committee members and guests met at Henry’s for the September meeting of the Hardin County Democrats.  The Committees unanimously endorsed John Patrick Carney for State Auditor and Nina Turner for Secretary of State.  Chair Traxler was in Columbus on Monday when Representative Carney announced his candidacy.

Traxler thanked the 12 people who cleaned up and then set-up the fair booth, those who worked all week in the Democrat booth at the Hardin County Fair and then helped to box up everything for next year.

Unfortunately the new floor which was installed last year was dulled and damaged by the clay mud which came under the north doors of the building during the summer rain.  Joe Hord mopped and sponged the mess before we could begin to put up the decorations.

Also, an oil slick left from a vehicle which was stored over the winter had to be cleaned up in the hallway at the northwest corner of the booth. The newest attraction in the booth was a red/white/blue rocking donkey (made by Mr. Troyer and painted by Joe Hord)!  If you didn’t see it there, it will be on display at the Ada Harvest and Herb Festival in the Democrat Booth in front of Four Seasons on North Main Street.

The door prizes were all picked up by the lucky winners before the fair ended on Sunday.  Several people registered to vote, changed their addresses and completed applications to receive mail ballots for the General Election in November.  These forms will also be available in the Democrat Booth in Ada on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Final plans were made for the Fall Campaign Luncheon to held at noon Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church north of Kenton on State Route 68 at 13502 Township Road 80.  The baked chicken breast and all the trimmings luncheon will be prepared by the members of one of the Sunday School classes.  Carry-outs will be available at 11:30 a.m.  Tickets are available from members of the Central and Executive Committees.  Tickets may also be ordered from Don Traxler via phone or email (419-234-8506 or [email protected]).

Reservations must be made by Saturday, Oct. 5.  While a speaker had been confirmed, Traxler received a phone call two days later that he would be unable to make it.  The keynote speaker will be announced as soon as one is confirmed.  The usual Donkey Silent Auction will be held and persons attending are invited to bring gifts to be auctioned off.

The next meeting will be held Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Henry’s Restaurant 995 North Detroit Street, Kenton.
