Baumgartner wins 2 titles, 8 Ada swimmers advance to districts

By Cort Reynolds

LIMA – The Ada High School swim teams competed well at the Div. II sectional meet in the Lima YMCA on February 8, with eight Bulldogs qualifying for districts.

Ada senior Lily Baumgartner captured two individual sectional championships. She touched first in the 100-yard butterfly and 100 backstroke races, automatically advancing her to districts.

She is on a quest for her fourth straight trip to the state meet in Canton.

“Everyone did amazing,” said Ada head coach Ashley Robey. “Eighty-five percent of events we swam were personal-bests.

“Everyone has been working hard this season to get to where they are, and I'm very proud of what they have accomplished,” she continued. “Eight out of our 11 swimmers are moving on to districts Friday at Bowling Green.”

The Ada girls 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams each qualified for the district meet: Lily, Alivia Montgomery, Jordyn Smith, Alyssa Nau, Lydia Demascio and Kennedy Jones.

Junior also Demascio qualified in the 100 backstroke.

Sophomore Tim Chrissobolis qualified in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke. Sophomore Jacob Szippl made it to BG in the 100 backstroke.

The district meet is at Bowling Green Friday.
