The last meeting of the Hootenannies 4-H Club was held at the farm of Advisor Grant Mizek. It was opened by president Laura Spradlin. Megan Williams asked for members' favorite zoo animal for roll call.
The Hardin Co Triathlon was discussed. Members competing will be Landyn Hijma, Seth Davis and Preston Brien.
Goat Royalty forms will be coming soon. All members having goat projects were encouraged to apply. Faith Holbrook was last year's Hardin Co Goat Princess and she represented our county at the Logan Co Fair goat show a couple weeks ago. They even offered to let her hand out ribbons. She hopes to attend the Auglaize Co Fair goat show on the 30th.
The theme of our fair booth was voted on and it was chosen to do the Triathlon theme. Parent Amy Williams will head this up again this year. Each member should get a picture of themselves with their projects for the booth (8x10 would be best).
Congratulations goes out to our State Fair Qualifiers: Levi Beiler received the honors with his Science Fun with Flight project and Faith Holbrook had State Fair distinction for her Scrapbooking project. Dillon Beiler got the County Award for Robotics 2 and since the member who qualified the State Fair could not go, Dillon goes to Columbus! Another member that got the County Award was Meadow Cromer for her Science Fun with Dairy Foods. Levi Beiler also got an Outstanding for his Robotics 1 project. We are proud of the work these members did!
Club members got to tie-dye their own t-shirts after the meeting. Some of them didn't wear the gloves provided, as the picture shows. Later everyone was able to fish in Grant's pond.
Our Goat Clinic is fast approaching, coming up on Aug 4th at Meadow and Callie Cromer's farm at 3 PM. This is open to all county 4-H or FFA members who have goat projects or are even considering taking a goat to the fair in the future. We will have many stations to learn much about having and showing goats. Parents/advisors involved in helping with this: Amanda Cromer, Grant Mizek, Ray Davis, Ernie Davis, Kenny Williams, April Holbrook and Chad Hazelton.
Meadow and Callie invite our members to come early to swim if they want to at 2 PM. We are planning a carry-in meal for after the clinic. Each member is to bring a covered dish and the Cromer family will provide the meat. Megan Williams will bring the drinks. Bring your own table service and a lawn chair. Meadow is going to do her presentation at this meeting.
