Ada High School kicked off Homecoming Week with the traditional powderpuff game that gives the girls an opportunity to to show off their love of football.
Coordinator Joshua Klein notes that “as long as I have been at Ada, powderpuff game has always been the Sunday before homecoming to kick off the festivities of the week. There was one year we had to move it the day after homecoming due to the fair being the week before homecoming, but that is not the typical.”
In 2024, AHS class officers decided to pit the upperclassmen (juniors/seniors) vs underclassmen (freshmen/sophomores) with the upperclassmen wearing pink and the underclassmen wearing white.
There were about 11 underclassmen and 16 upperclassmen competing. The Juniors-Seniors won by a score of 34-20. The game was close at the half, 21-20, but the upperclassmen ultimately ran away with the victory.
Klein says, “with perfect weather, good attendance and lots of donated items at the bake sale, it was a successful fundraiser for the junior class which will be used to help cover the costs of prom.”
Organizers shared a special thanks to Ada's own Wilson Football Factory for donating two special edition 2024 Ada Powderpuff game balls that were raffled off at the end of the game.
