The September 3 regular meeting of the Ada Council covered a wide range of topics, including a new refuse contract with Rumpke, the hiring of new Clayton Eichman as Code Enforcement Officer, final plans for safety improvements on Buckeye Ave. and the need to address a derelict Village building on Pebble Ct.
LEGISLATION
Two guests attended the meeting: representatives from Rumpke Waste & Recycling and from Waste Management. Council approved legislation to accept the Rumpke bid for a 7-year contract, which was notable for no longer including a fuel adder. The Village determined that the Waste Management proposal varied from the required base bid for unlimited pickup and was not considered. There were no other bids. Details of the agreement are in the attached packet, pages 12-36.
PERSONNEL
Council approved the recommendation by Personnel chairman Bob Simmons to hire Clayton Eichman as Code Enforcement Officer. Eichman is also employed by the Village as a full-time detective with the Ada Police Department. The additional role is for 25 hours per month with Eichman not wearing his police uniform or using a marked police vehicle unless necessary.
STREETS
Council Jason Campbell and Village Administrator Jamie Hall presented final plans for safety improvements to be implemented on Buckeye Ave. A few minor adjustments were made with openings at the Old Route 69 Brewery, which is currently under construction. The Village will be seeking bids on the project, which includes implementation of 1-way traffic flow away from Main St. to the east and west for one block and back-in angle parking, which will create 15 new spaces.
ADMINISTRATION
Jamie Hall reported to council that the Village owns a pole barn structure on Pebble Court that is no longer in use and has fallen into disrepair. Council asked him to investigate demolition costs.
