AHS golfers place 2nd at August 14 tri-match

By Cort Reynolds

BLUFFTON – The Ada High School boys golf team finished second in a three-team match at the Bluffton Golf Course Wednesday, August 14.

Ada played for the third consecutive day, this time against non-league foes Pandora-Gilboa and Ottoville.

Ottoville won the match with 179 strokes, followed by the Bulldogs with 210 shots and P-G in third at 213.

“It was a humid night for golf,” said head coach Kurt Klingler. “We played competitively and shot a good score for us. Having two players shoot in the 40’s is good for us.

“We would still like to get our scores down 7-10 strokes for each player,” he noted.

Bulldog senior Ethan Lawrence shot a round of 48 to pace Ada. He finished fourth overall in the field of 16 golfers.

Sophomore Brody Rister finished right behind him in fifth place by carding a 49.

Sophomore Lawson Klingler finished third for the Bulldogs with a 55.

Junior Sam Crawford was the fourth Ada scorer as he posted a 58.

Evan Altenburger of the first-place Big Green was match medalist with a nine-hole score of 40. Teammate Blake Kortokrax finished second overall with a round of 42.

Ada (2-3) hosts a quadrangular match Friday at Bluffton vs. Hardin Northern, Arcadia and Delphos Jefferson.
