The Hardin Co Hootenannies 4-H Club's last meeting was brought to order by President Laura Spradlin at the farm of Faith Holbrook. Isaac Davis led the American pledge and Callie Cromer led the 4-H pledge. Secretary Miranda Holbrook asked for our favorite kinds of beans in roll call and we had 11 members present.
Old business: Faith read a note from Ag Credit, thanking us for the tree we planted for them. She has added it to the reporter's notebook she has compiled.
Also, we are signing up to help Parent Kriss Brien with the Hardin Co YMCA Kids Triathlon coming up on July 27th as one of our communities service projects. Some of our members are participating as well.
New business: The club members should be thinking of a theme for our fair booth. Plans for our next meeting were also discussed.
A safety report on swimming tips was given by Laura Spradlin. She gave us scenarios to think more about safety while swimming. Then, Sean Hurley presented a health and safety report on market goats.
For our refreshments, Faith made Cowboy beans made from 4 different beans and 2 meats from our Star Spangled Foods group project. Beans were a good protein food for the early pioneers. Parent April Holbrook explained some of the nutritional values in beans and had the members tell all the different beans they found. Seth Davis found the most and the most unusual types. Laura brought fruit and pudding to round off the meal.
Our next meeting is Sun July 21 at 4pm on the farm of Advisor Grant Mizek. We will have a cookout and Grant will provide the meat. All members are to bring a covered dish to share. Bring your own table service and lawn chairs. We will be fishing in Grant's pond, so bring fishing gear too.
