TIFFIN__ The Ohio Northern women's golf team opened its spring season on a snowy Sunday afternoon at the Heidelberg Snowball's Chance Invitational.
The Basics
- The Polar Bears finished with an 52-over par a 340 for 18 holes.
- Northern edged league-rival Otterbein by one stroke to finish first of six teams.
- Alma was third with a 362, Heidelberg was fourth with a 379, Defiance was fifth with a 399 and Baldwin Wallace was sixth with a 426.

ONU Individuals
Senior Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) won Medalist honors, finishing first of 37 players with an 8-over par 80.
Junior Amelia Burger (Centerville) and sophomore Marisa Alfes (Bellbrook) tied for fifth with 86s.
Junior Bekah Baumlein (Mainesville/Kings) tied for 10th with an 88 in her first round of the season.
Senior Torrie Smith (Kokomo, Ind./Western) was 18th with a 94.
Playing as an individual, freshman Madyson Smith (Russiaville, Ind./Western) tied for 16th with a 93.
Notables
Honigford has now won Medalist honors five time in six tournament this season.
In her career, Honigford has been Medalist 20 times in 42 career tournaments.
The tournament was played in cold, blustery and snowy conditions, making scoring difficult.
