Ada matmen 15th at Sally George Invite; McClain 4th at 150

The Bulldog grapplers host the Ada Invitational Saturday, February 3 at 10 a.m.
MARION__The Ada High School wrestling team competed at the prestigious 21-team Marion Pleasant Sally George Invitational Friday and Saturday, January 26-27.
Elgin won the event with 174.5 points, followed by Ontario (160) and host Pleasant (158).
Ada finished 15th with 34.5 points, just behind Whitehall-Yearling (38) and ahead of Jonathan Alder (31.5).

Bulldog senior Clayton McClain fashioned a 3-2 record with a pin in the 150 lbs. division. He advanced to the semifinals with two wins Friday before losing to eventual 150 bracket champion Daxton Chase of Pleasant by an 18-6 decision.
McClain then captured his first consolation bracket match by a 2-1 decision.
In the third-place match McClain lost to senior Kaiden Luikhart of Elgin by an 8-1 decision. His fourth-place finish was the best showing by any Ada grappler at the tough tournament.
Bulldog junior Landon Simon finished sixth at the 215 lbs. class with a 3-3 record. He won his first match via pin, but then was pinned in the quarterfinals.
In the 215 consolation bracket he won two matches by pin to advance to the consolation semis, where he was pinned. In the fifth-place bout, Simon lost by pin to end up sixth.
Ada junior Liam Vieira was 1-2 at 144 lbs. with a pin.
Sophomore Silas Riblet was 0-2 at 113 lbs. Sophomore Zaiden Denslow was 0-2 at 132 lbs. Freshman Kale Pedersen went 0-2 at 138 lbs.
