Meet Carrie Smith, the 6th grade social studies and science teacher at Ada Schools, who came to the district in Fall 2023.

Q. What is the one thing you cannot resist?
A. Sunsets!  I will cause a 47-car pile up to get a good pic of one!

Q. What is your greatest fear?
A. Outliving one of my kids.

Q. Where is your favorite place to be?
A. Any lake!

Q. Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?
A. UP - Michigan has a secret heaven and I don't want people to know about it.

Q. What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
A. Strawberry picker and one of my former students was my boss - he started the farm himself from some of the Bio/Env Sci goodies he learned in my classes.  

Q. What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
A. Tour guide at Ohio Caverns or Cedar Bog

Q. Any favorite line from a movie?
A. "I'm not a witch, I'm your wife!"  Princess Bride

Q. Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
A. I earned a 2nd degree black belt when I was 16.

Q. If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?
A. Pat Summitt

Q. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
A. Speak another language fluently.

Q. What are 3 words you’d use to describe Ada Schools?
A. Close, Vibrant, Opportunity.

Q. If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? What is the first thing you would buy?
A. Pay my house off and then buy a lake house.  

Q. When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass the time?
A. Sadly, it's bad but I creep Facebook.  Baddddd I know.

Q. What is something you learned in the last week?
A. Frontline is not just flea and tick preventative, but it's how I get a day off.

Q. What’s your favorite indoor/outdoor activity?
A. Skiing

Q. What is the first concert you attended?
A. Vince Gill 1992

Q. What music is on your iPhone/Android phone?
A. I only listen to Podcasts but my song is Fleetwood Mac - Landslide.

Q. What chore do you absolutely hate doing?
A. Swapping out winter/summer clothing for my spawn each season.

Q. If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
A. John Paul II

Q. How do you balance your career and family?
A. I'll let you know when I find out.

Q. Is there anything else you would like to add?
A. I'm personally very grateful for the opportunity to coach and teach in this district.
