Honigford hole-in-one at Bluffton Classic, other wow moments

Senior Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) recorded the first hole-in-one in school history, leading the Ohio Northern women's golf team on another record-breaking day Saturday and Sunday at the Bluffton Fall Classic.

Honigford and the Polar Bears set or tied nine school records on the weekend, including her ace.

The Polar Bears won by 48-shot advantage over Bluffton (658) and a 132-shot lead over Defiance (742).

  • Honigford finished with a 1-under par score on the par-72, 5600-yard course.
  • Her ace was 145-yard the 14th hole and she used an 8-iron.
  • Junior Marisa Alfes (Bellbrook) finished second of 15 players with a career-low 75-71--146
  • Junior Amelia Burger (Centerville) finished third with a career-low tying 78-76--154.
  • Senior Torrie Smith (Kokomo, Ind./Western) tied for 7th with a career-low 82-81--163.
  • ONU head coach Chad Bucci is now 414-254-2 in his 11th season at the helm.
