Two Bulldogs finish 2nd

The Ada High School wrestling program hosted a 17-team invitational meet Saturday, February 4.
Bulldog junior Clayton McClain captured second in the 144 lbs. weight bracket. Ada freshman Silas Riblet also finished a strong second at 106 lbs. Bulldog sophomore Liam Vieira ended up a solid fourth in the 132 lbs. class.
Elgin won the event with 297 points, well ahead of Bucyrus in a distant second with 190.5. Ada took 10th with 83 points.
Number two seed Riblet went 2-0 in pool play with a pair of pins at 106. He then won by pin at 80 seconds in the semifinals of the tournament. In the championship match, he fell to unbeaten top seed Ian Reynold of Eastwood by technical fall, 15-0.
Seeded second at 144, McClain authored a 3-0 mark with three pins in pool play. In the semifinals, he pinned junior Kaleb Martin of Elgin in 3:42. But in the title bout, he lost to top seed Grant Dowell of Bucyrus by an 8-2 decision.
Vieira posted a 3-1 record in pool play with one pin and two decision wins by scores of 10-1 and 11-3.
Sophomore Logan Jolliff went 1-1 with a pin in the 138 lbs. pool rounds, then lost by default in the first tournament round.
Junior Owen Arnett finished 1-3 with a pin in the 165 lbs. bracket. Sophomore teammate Ken Zheng was 0-4 in 165 lbs. pool play.
Sophomore Colton Cole registered a 1-2 record in the 190 lbs. division pool round.

Ada competes in the annual Northwest Conference championship tournament Friday evening, February 10 at Spencerville.
The Bulldogs then host county rival Kenton in a dual match Tuesday, Feb. 14.
