Men’s Basketball falls 53-50 in tight battle at Capital
February 3--The Ohio Northern men's basketball team fell 53-50 to Capital in a tightly contested game Friday night at the Capital Center.

The Comets improve to 11-10 overall and 7-7 in the OAC while dropping the Polar Bears to 9-12, 5-9.

Ohio Northern made 18-of-54 field goals for 33.3% and was 6-of-18 from 3-point range for 33.3%, while Capital made 20-of-51 field goals for 39.2% and was 7-of-23 from beyond the arc for 30.4%.

ONU was 8-of-16 from the free-throw line for 50%, and CU was 6-of-10 for 60%.

Northern out-rebounded Capital by a 40-32 margin.

Digby leads Men’s Indoor Track and Field on day 1 of Ashland Open
February 3--Junior Keegan Digby (Bowling Green/Otsego) set a career-best mark in the weight throw in leading the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team on Day 1 of the two-day Jud Logan Light Giver Open on Friday at Ashland University's Niss Athletic Center. 

Senior Nick Tangeman (Maria Stein/Marion Local) added an 11th-place finish in the triple jump, posting a mark of 12.14 meters, and junior Tommy Vetrovsky (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) was 17th in the weight throw with a toss of 15.88 meters.

Women's highlights from Day 1 of Ashland Open track and field
February 3--The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team posted five top-20 finishes in the pole vault to highlight Day 1 of the two-day Jud Logan Light Giver Open on Friday at Ashland University's Niss Athletic Center.

Freshman Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) led the way for the Polar Bears at the meet, which is not being team scored.

Ford finished in a tie for 12th in the pole vault, posting a season-best mark of 3.50 meters, which ranks fourth in the Ohio Athletic Conference this season and is eighth all-time at ONU.

Also in the pole vault, senior Anna Schatzle (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County) tied for 14th with a mark of 3.35 meters, junior Olivia Ogg (Hebron/Lakewood) and freshman Riley Heitkamp (Fort Loramie) tied for 16th with a mark of 3.05 meters, and sophomore Jaclyn Boardman (Franklin, Ind./Franklin Community) tied for 18th with a mark of 3.05 meters.

Men's basketball vs. Otterbein: 75-58 loss
February 1--Senior Landen Long (Mason) scored a season-high 15 points, leading the Ohio Northern basketball team in a 75-58 loss at Otterbein on Wednesday night at the Rike Center.

The Polar Bears fall to 9-11 overall and are 5-8 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Cardinals improve to 12-7, 7-6.

Women's basketball vs. Otterbein
February 1--The No. 13 Ohio Northern women's basketball picked up a key 65-54 OAC victory Wednesday night over Otterbein. The win keeps the Polar Bears atop the OAC standings with five games remaining in OAC action.

The Polar Bears improve to 18-2 overall and 12-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference while dropping the Cardinals to 11-9, 7-6 OAC.

The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday, February 4, when they travel to Bexley to take on Capital for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
