Burger leads Women's Golf to victory at Bluffton Spring Classic
Freshman Amelia Burger (Centerville) won Medalist honors and the Ohio Northern women's golf team won the team title of the Bluffton Spring Classic on Saturday and Sunday at Hidden Creek Golf Course.
The Polar Bears (60-12 overall) carded a 336-324—660 on the 5602-yard, par-72 course to defeat second place Bluffton by 16 strokes.
Six ONU golfers finished in the top 10 in the 44-women field, led by Burger with a 17-over par 82-79—161.
Freshman Rhianna Firmstone (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) was third with an 85-80—165, sophomore Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) tied for fifth with an 82-85—167, junior Meghan Utterdyke (Lebanon/Bishop Fenwick) and sophomore Isabella Orofino (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) tied for seventh with 170s and freshman rebekah Baumlein () tied for 10th with a 90-82—172.
Mount Saint Joseph was third with a 344-352—696, Heidelberg was fourth with a 389-361—750, Tiffin was fifth with a 386-396—782 and Manchester (Ind.) was sixth with a 401-413—814.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday and Sunday at the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling.
