Ada native Joshua Rouch receives Cardinal Health Pharmacy Scholarship
Ohio Northern University student Joshua Rouch, a fifth-year pharmacy major from Ada, is ONU’s 2013 recipient of the Cardinal Health Pharmacy Scholarship Award.
The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy was one of more than a dozen pharmacy schools from across the nation selected in 2013 to receive funding to establish endowed scholarships from the multimillion-dollar Cardinal Health Pharmacy Scholarship Program, now in its third year.
In addition to receiving the scholarship, Rouch has been invited by Cardinal Health to attend and be honored at its annual Retail Business Conference in Seattle in August.
“I am extremely honored and blessed to be bestowed with such an esteemed award from Cardinal Health. I look forward to serving the pharmacy profession, and this scholarship will help me achieve my future goals of providing the best quality service in the community setting,” Rouch said.
“It is both rewarding and encouraging to be recognized for my hard work and ambition of becoming a pharmacy owner, and I am eager to work with Cardinal Health in the future. I am excited about the prospect of attending the annual Cardinal Health Retail Business Conference, as it will be a great networking opportunity that will certainly allow me to further my career.”
At ONU, Rouch has been involved in several organizations over the past five years: Rho Chi pharmacy academic honor society (vice president), Mortar Board national college honor society, Phi Lambda Sigma pharmacy leadership honor society, Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society, National Community Pharmacist Association (NCPA), and American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP).
In addition, he played four years of varsity intercollegiate football at ONU (two-year letterman, Academic Top 10 Award), worked in the Pharmacy Skills Compounding Lab as a teacher’s assistant for two years, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for five years, and was a Special Olympics volunteer for four years.
Universities selected to participate in the Cardinal Health Pharmacy Scholarship Program offer strong nuclear, independent or hospital pharmacy curricula. Each school received an endowed scholarship ranging from $50,000 to $125,000.
