The Ada Police Department has provided the Ada village council with a 2021 Year-End Report that provides insight on staffing developments, information on the number of offenses, incidents and arrests, and financials.
Police Chief Michael Harnishfeger provided the Icon with the attached copy, which includes the following totals:
1,641 Calls for Service
2,488 Officer Initiated Activities (traffic stops, open doors, etc.)
261 Written Reports (105 Criminal, 228 Non-Criminal with some overlap)
Harnishfeger called 2021 "a difficult year" and noted that several officers left the department amidst a very competitive job market. In 2021 Ada Police staff included seven full-time officers. Following this report, the hiring of an additional officer was approved by council.
Detective Sgt. George Schlub was among the departures. Harnishfeger will lead investigations until a replacement is found.
The police chief also reported how COVID has affected staffing levels and response practices. At the time of the report, three officers were out for COVID related issues and the department was reducing in-person responses.
As of Feb 2, 2022, the staff roster included
Chief Michael Harnishfeger
Sgt. John Iten
Sgt. Aaron Crawford
Ptl. Mike Bollinger
Ptl. Andrew Peterman
Ptl. Jason Snipes
Ptl. James Beltz
Ptl. Penny Keller-Clark
