Donald R. Hensley, age 81, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 8:16 AM at his residence in Alger.
He was born on May 15, 1940 in Kenton, Ohio to Orb Hensley and Edna Mann. He was raised by his mother, Edna and step father, Lee Hall. Donald is survived by his special friend, Anita Ray of Alger. He was previously married to Nancy Coburn.
Donald retired after working for thirty-six years from Whirlpool of Marion. He served as the Mayor of Alger and on the Alger City Council for many years. He attended the Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God, Alger. Donald was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served for six years. He was a member of the Kenton Amvets Post #1994 and served on their Honor Guard.
Also surviving are his two daughters: Angela Renee (Ronald) Johnson of Forest and Amy Dyann (Jeffrey) Herron of Alger; a step-son, Johnathan (Linda) Ray of Marion; five grandchildren: Makenzie Johnson, Taylor (Kolton Tallman) Herron, Joshua (Laura) Herron, Kyle (Megan) Herron and Jacob (Morgan) Herron; seven great grandchildren: Oaklynn, Aubra, Payton, Brantley, Liam, Stella Ann and Scarlett; numerous step grandchildren; a brother, Steve (Jean) Hall of Kenton; and two sisters: Ida Mae (Larry) Steele of Kenton and Sharon Kay McConnell of Kenton.
Donald was preceded in death by his father, mother and step father and two brothers: Herb and Jim Hensley.
Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger with Rev. Jim Gatchell officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger with military honors conducted by the Amvets Post #1994 Honor Guard of Kenton.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
