OhioMeansJobs Hardin County taking applications
OhioMeansJobs Hardin County is now taking applications for the Work Experience Program.
This program is for youth 14 and older and adults. Work experiences are a planned, structured, short-term learning experience designed to expose participants to the working world and the skills that are required for a job.
“The paid work experience is now available year around and not just during the summer,” said Geanna England, OhioMeansJobs Hardin County Workforce Development Supervisor.
A work experience helps the participants understand proper workplace behavior and job skills needed to attain and retain employment. It serves as a steppingstone to unsubsidized employment and is an important step in the process of developing a career pathway for the youth and adults.
In addition, participants will earn income and develop work readiness skills and the experience will provide encouragement and opportunities to build self-confidence, along with reinforcing education and career goals.
“To be eligible for the program you must reside in Hardin County, have a minor child in the home or pay a court order child support and be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. For a family of four, that’s right around $53,000 a year,” stated England.
