Brenna Hissong, Jacob Thaxton, Ada's teenagers of the month

Recognized by the Kenton Elks Lodge 157

Two Ada High School seniors, Brenna Hissong and Jacob Thaxton are the October Kenton Elks Lodge 157 Ada’s teenagers of the month.

Students from each school in Hardin County are recognized each month. This is the first group of students recognized for 2020-2021 school year by the Elks.

Brenna Hissong, has volunteered with the Ada food pantry. Following the Farmers and Merchants Picnic as a freshman, sophomore and junior, she helped in Ada Park cleanup. As a junior, she volunteered in setting up the Governor’s Art Show entries, hosted by Ada High School. 

Activities in school include member of the girls’ soccer team where she lettered, was a gold scholar athlete, voted the team’s most valuable player as a junior and senior and was team captain this season. She belongs to the language club, film club and participated in art shows, last year winning first place in sculpture in the Kewpee Art Show, Lima. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and was the junior class vice-president.

The daughter of daughter of Timbre Hissong, she plans on attending Ohio Northern University’s six-year pharmacy program.

Jacob Thaxton served as a teacher’s helper and in the praise band of his church. He has also served as a Dogs Volunteer, worked sports concessions and volunteered in his church’s summer kids’ music camp.

In school he is a three-year soccer team letter winner and was co-captain this season. In show choir he was named the best performer in three competitions and received the Lynn Knoble Award for best male junior in show choir. He has participated in the school robotics team, language club, film club, FCA and quiz bowl team, which is a two-time NWC champion.

He has worked as a soccer referee for local youth games.

Son of Ben and Julie Thaxton, he hopes to major in either electrical engineering or enter the Christian ministry and is looking at the University of Toledo, Ohio Northern among other colleges.
