Sheila Coressel and Linda Mason join Ada council

Wes Davis of Forest hired as public works superintendent; Bob Simmons elected council president

Sheila Coressel and Linda Mason were sworn in as new members of the Ada council on Jan. 7. Both were elected to four-year terms in the November general election.

Several reorganizational duties took place at the meeting and council hired a new public works superintendent.

Council hired Wes Davis of Forest as its public works superintendent.  Davis held the same position in Forest. His first day on the job is Jan. 13.

Jamie Hall, village administrator, told the Icon that Davis is a great hire for the village adding, “he will help keep moving along.”

Davis was hired at $50,000 per year and will have a six-month probationary period. Several carry-over benefits from his position at Forest were accepted as part of his contract.

Those included:
•  425 hours of sick leave for usage after successful completion of his six-month instructional period.

• 40 hours of personal leave to be used between the completion of the instructional period and Dec. 31, 2020.

• acceptance of his six years of service with the Village of Forest, for the purposes of a vacation policy, giving him 88 hours of vacation leave effective Jan. 1, 2021.

He is required to successfully obtain the Water Distribution Operator in Training license within the next six months and obtain the Water Distribution Operator Class I license within the next 16 months.

Council assignments
Bob Simmons was elected president of  council for 2020.  He replaces Don Fleming who held the post in 2019.

Personnel – Bob Simmons
Utilities – Linda Mason
Ambulance board (council representative) – Sheila Coressel
Planning commission (council representative) – Linda Mason

Mayor David Retterer will announce additional committee appointments at the Jan. 21 council meeting.

Council will continue to meet on the first and third Tuesdays of each month in 2020 with a meeting time at 6:30 p.m. Meetings will continue to take place in the Ada depot until the elevator in the municipal building is certified for operation.
