Evans leads Ada grapplers at Lancer Invite

Bulldog senior wins 160-pound title at 11-team event

MIDDLE POINT - Ada senior Reece Evans won the 160-pound individual title at the 11-team Lincolnview Lancer Invitational Saturday to pace a strong showing by the four-man Bulldog contingent.

Evans defeated Roman Graber of Hicksville by a 10-3 decision to win the 160 lbs. first-place match. Evans won his first four matches, three by pin and one by a 14-6 decision, to reach the championship bout vs. Graber.  

Ada's Colton Beiderman (120) took second in the 120 lbs. bracket. He lost to Collin Fokine of Parkway 8-6 in the title match.
Beiderman posted four straight victories by pin to reach the final round.

Jonathan McClain of Ada captured third in the 220 lbs. bracket. He pinned Parkway's Billy Popp in 48 seconds to win the third-place bout. McClain went 2-2 with a pin on the day.

Bulldog Cameron Bober came in fifth in the 152 lbs. division. Cameron pinned Eric Gonzalez in 59 seconds to win the fifth-place match. He went 3-2 with two pins at the event.

Only four Bulldog wrestlers were able to compete due to injuries and other issues. All four placed in the top five of their divisions.

Jay Goetz of Spencerville (132 lbs.) was voted the tournament's Most Valuable Wrestler. Collin Fokine-Parkway (120) was named the top freshman grappler at the event. 

Parkway out-pointed Spencerville 340-285 to win the team crown.
Short-handed Ada finished 10th out of 11 teams by tallying 112 points.
