Leona Pope, 83, died on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019, at 11:45 a.m. at her residence in Ada.
She was born on March 10, 1936, in Magoffin County, Kentucky, to the late Burton and Della (Marshall) Patton. Leona was previously married to James Pope on Oct. 19, 1955, and they divorced, he preceded her in death in 2016.
Leona was a homemaker. She was a member of the Ada Pentecostal Church and played the tambourine at church. She also enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and playing the spoons. Leona loved her grandkids, family and her dog, Sissy.
She is survived by her two daughters: Janet (Donald) Morrison of Dola and Louise (Steven) Kindle of Dola; four grandchildren: Brandon Morrison, Ashlee Morrison, Matthew (Alexandrea) Kindle and Jessica Kindle; great granddaughter, Katelyn Morrison; and a brother, Eugene Patton of Findlay.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Tra Manns Morrison; a brother, J. B. Patton; a sister, Omalee Bailey; a brother-in-law, Mitchell Bailey; and two sisters-in-law: Ester Patton and Annie Patton.
It was her wish to be cremated, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
