Junior Jordan Breitigam shattered his school record and won the Consolation Finals in the 200 fly on Day 3 of the 2013 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming & Diving Championships Friday evening at the Conroe Natatorium in Shenandoah, Tex.
Breitigam earned Honorable Mention All-America honors by finishing ninth in 1:47.46, which broke his school record set in the prelims Friday afternoon.
His time was also the third-fastest in the meet and was better than six of the eight men in the finals.
Breitigam was ninth in the prelims in 1:48.76, which was just .16 seconds shy of eighth place and was a new ONU record at the time.
The top eight in each event earn All-American status and finishers 9-16 earn Honorable All-American honors.
This will be the second consecutive season Breitigam can earn All-American status, as he finished in 13th place at last year's championships.
Also participating Thursday for the Polar Bears was senior Drew Keriazes, who finished 22nd of 32 swimmers in the 100 breaststroke, posting a time of 57.11 seconds.
On Thursday and Friday, the tandem senior Marc Anderson, junior Christian Garlock, Breitigam and Keriazes earned Honorable Mention All-American status in both the 200 and 400 medley relay.
Saturday will be the final day of competition and will feature the Polar Bears competing in the 400 free relay and Keriazes in the 200 breast.
The prelims are slated for 10 am (CDT), with the top 16 advancing to the finals beginning at 6 pm (CDT).
