KENTON - The Ada golf team finished a strong second at the five-team Hardin County Invitational Saturday morning at the Kenton Memorial Golf Course.
Kenton won the tourney with a score of 193, with the Bulldogs nine shots behind in second at 202 strokes. Riverdale (207) came in third, followed by USV (212) and Ridgemont (254).
"I am very happy with how the boys played today," said Ada head coach Jason Campbell. "They have been working hard all season, and this is a great way to see the results of that work."
Second place is the highest Ada has finished at the county meet in Campbell's seven seasons at the helm.
Bulldog senior Ethan Hull was second medalist at the event, shooting a 43 (5-6-5-6-5-3-5-5-3). Wildcat Ethan Wirbel was first medalist with a 42.
"Ethan came out and everything was working for him," said Campbell. "He was strong off the tee, the long irons were precise. He played smart golf and his score reflected that. He had a great day.
"All of the boys are using this tournament as momentum for the rest of the season," he added.
Bulldog junior Brevin Sizemore shot 50, while senior southpaw Alex Morgan posted a 52. Junior Jacob Morgan shot 57 and soph lefty Dexter Woods added a 61.
Ada plays in a makeup match Sept. 3 at Hickory Sticks vs. Lincolview and Columbus Grove. The Bulldogs then co-host Delphos Jefferson and Lincolnview with Bluffton Sept. 4 at the Bluffton Golf Course.
