Four candidates will vie for two spots on Ada council in November

Aug. 7 is deadline to file as a school board and township trustee candidate

Ada voters will have some local decisions to make on the Tuesday, Nov. 5, general election ballot.

Four candidates are on the ballot for two Ada village council seats in November. The top two vote-getters will each begin a four-year council term on Jan. 1, 2020.

Council candidates
• Cathy Cole –
   Independent, 301 S. Johnson St., incumbent

• Shelia Coressel –
   Democrat, 421 E. Lima Ave.

• Ken Lauria –
   Democrat, incumbent, appointed December 2018 to fill Beth Fenton vacancy,
   301 S. Johnson St.

• Linda Mason –
   Republican, 325 Grandview Boulevard

Other races
Dave Retterer, Republican, 232 Hays Ave., is the only mayoral candidate on the ballot. He is currently Ada’s mayor. The mayor term is for four years and begins Jan. 1, 2020.

The final opportunity for persons to seek either council or mayoral seats is as a write-in candidate. That deadline is 4 p.m., Monday, Aug. 26.

School board
Three seats are on the school board ballot. The school board is a non-partisan position and the deadline to file as a candidate is Wednesday, Aug. 7. The top three vote-getters will each begin a four-year council term on Jan. 1, 2020.

The following persons hold seats on the school board that will be on the November ballot.

Matthew Gossman, 5613 CR 44
Amy Mullins, 4697 SR 235

Liberty Township trustee
One seat is on the Liberty Township ballot. The trustee seat is a non-partisan position and the deadline to file as a candidate is Wednesday, Aug. 7. The top vote-getter will begin a four-year council term on Jan. 1, 2020.

Jeffrey Acheson, 1077 Township Road  25, holds the seat that is on the November ballot.
