Mustang rushing attack halts Ada

By Dusty Donley
Propelled by a dominant rushing attack, Allen East opened up a 30 point first half lead last Friday night and never looked back as the Mustangs defeated the visiting Bulldogs, 51-0.  Ada's sixth consecutive loss puts an end to a challenging season for first year head coach Shawn Christopher as his Bulldogs finish the 2018 gridiron campaign 2-8 and 1-8 in the Northwest Conference.

Led by junior Bryce Belcher's 143 yards and three touchdowns, the Mustangs amassed 296 yards rushing and scored five of their seven touchdowns on the ground.

As a team, Allen East out-gained the Bulldogs in total offense, 521 yards to 180.

Bulldog quarterback Phillip Coulson finished the game 11 of 21 for 101 yards passing, no scores and four interceptions.  The junior signal caller led the way on the ground with 45 yards rushing on 20 carries.  After becoming the full-time starter in week 4, Coulson went on to complete 63 of 132 passes (48%) for 704 yards, six touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

Over the course of the ten game season, the Bulldogs were outscored by their opponents, 441 points to 113.

Looking to the future, Ada graduates seven seniors, including 6-1", 240 pound offensive lineman Noah Mattson.  Despite the losses, the bulk of the roster returns next season and will look to return the Bulldogs to the postseason.
