Ohio Northern University’s chapter of the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) has scheduled a number of events as part of the Medication Adherence Challenge, a national effort to raise public awareness of the importance of taking medications as prescribed.
The ONU APhA-ASP chapter will team up with students and faculty from the ONU nursing program to consult and distribute information concerning medication adherence on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 8 a.m. during the ONU Health Fair in the McIntosh Ballroom and on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m. at the Community Market in Ada.
In addition, the ONU chapter will hold two events in Lima: at the Lima Rescue Mission on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and at Ray’s Pharmacy on Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Throughout February, the group also will distribute information at the Rite Aid in Ada, as well. Customers should consult the wallet cards distributed with their prescriptions for additional information.
This nationwide project, sponsored by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), is inspiring students to spread word to their communities in as many ways as possible.
The ONU chapter is focused on improving medication adherence at Allen County Health Partners in Lima through education, counseling, pill boxes, timers, refrigerator magnet reminders, calendar stickers, handouts, phone calls and text messages.
