Hazel C. Umphress, 91, formerly of Ada, OH and currently of Brockport, NY passed peacefully on May 10, 2017. Hazel was born on October 19, 1925 in Rittman, OH. On June 8, 1946 she married Charles Umphress and they shared 56 years of marriage until his death on July 3, 2002.
Hazel was a devoted and loving homemaker. She loved spending time with her siblings and their spouses and did so as much as possible. She was proud of her home and beautiful flower gardens and tended to them faithfully.
Hazel will be dearly missed by her 2 daughters: Viki Midlam (Alan Hamilton) and Cheryl (Howard) Ward; 3 grandchildren: Duane Umphress II, Kelli (Andy) Jaco and Lee Mentzer; 3 step grandchildren: Jason Midlam, Kristin Ward and Matthew (Christa) Ward and 3 great grandchildren: Christian Jaco, Autumn and Bailey Umphress. Hazel is also survived by her youngest sibling Donald Morrison.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles and their son Duane Umphress. Her parents Earl and Erdene Morrison along with her 4 brothers Lloyd Morrison, Carl Morrison, Paul Morrison, Dick Morrison and 2 sisters Mary Foster and Wanda Simon also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Michael Armentrout minister officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
Friends may call prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
