WAYNESFIELD - The Ada track and field team kicked off its 2017 campaign by competing at the Joe Rider Horn Tiger Relays in Waynesfield this past Saturday.

The Bulldog girls and boys teams each took sixth at the eight-team event.

Colonel Crawford won the boys title with 99 points, narrowly edging host Waynesfield-Goshen (97) and Wapakoneta (95). The Bulldog boys tallied 57 points to nip Allen East (56) for sixth.

Wapakoneta captured the girls crown with 102 points, followed by Colonel Crawford with 97. The Lady Bulldogs scored 58.5 points to finish just behind fifth-place AE (60).

Powerful Ada senior Grace Nelson finished first individually in both the shot put and discus events to pace the Lady Bulldogs. The Ada girls long jump relay trio of Anney Archer, Olivia Ennis and Braelyn Dodge took first.

The Bulldog boys shot put relay threesome of senior strongman Jake Agin and sophomore twins Nathan and Noah Mattson also finished first. The same trio came in second in the discus relay.

The Ada boys 4x800 and 4x1600 relay quartets also ended up second in their races.
