ONU's women's tennis team set for winter and spring season

The Ohio Northern women's tennis team is set to open the 2016-17 Winter and Spring portion of its schedule as they travel to Hamilton to take on Div. 1-foe Miami (Ohio) on Feb. 26 at 6 pm.

Northern will look to compete for its fifth Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season Title and fourth OAC Tournament Championship in the last seven years under 16th-year head coach Scott Wills.

After opening with Miami (Ohio), the Polar Bears will travel to Hilton Head, S.C., Mar. 5-7 for their annual Spring Break trip.

The trip will feature contests with Wilkes (Pa.) on Mar. 5, Sweet Briar (S.C.) and Albion (Mich.) on Mar. 6, and contests against North Carolina Wesleyan and St. John Fisher (N.Y.) on Mar. 7.

ONU will open the northern portion of its schedule as it travels to Wittenberg on Mar. 23 to take on the Tigers at 4:30 pm.

Ohio Northern's home and OAC-opener will feature a matchup with John Carroll at the University Courts on Apr. 1 at 1 pm.

The Polar Bears will travel to Otterbein on Apr. 5 at 3:30 pm and Mount Union on Apr. 8 at 1 pm before competing at the annual OAC Tennis Fest in Mason, Ohio.

The OAC Tennis Fest, held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio is a two-day event.

Northern will open play on Apr. 13 as they take on Muskingum at 2 pm and Kenyon at 5 pm.

ONU will wrap up the OAC Tennis Fest with a matchup against Marietta at 11 am on Apr. 14.

Northern will return home and host Baldwin Wallace on Apr. 19 before honoring its seniors on Senior Day as it welcomes Heidelberg on Apr. 21 at 4 pm.

The Polar Bears wrap up the regular season as they travel to Columbus to take on Capital on Apr. 29.

The OAC Tournament is set to be held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio on May 3-6.
