Former Ohio Northern All-American Jason Trusnik signed a free agent contract with the New Orleans Saints for the final three games of the regular season.
Trusnik, a 10-year veteran of the NFL, has played in 118 games with 25 starts for the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings prior to the New Orleans Saints.
He was active in the Saints' 48-41 win at the Arizona Cardinals on Dec. 18 and is expected to be active for New Orleans' final two games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons.
Trusnik has 231 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception and two fumble recoveries as a linebacker and on special teams.
Trusnik was five-year standout for Ohio Northern from 2002-06 and earned All-American honors as a defensive end for the polar Bears in 2004 and 2006.
He led the nation in sacks (18.0) and tackles for loss (31.0) in 2004.
His senior year of 2005 was cut short due to a foot injury, but he bounced back in 2006 with another All-American year with 11 sacks and 19.5 TFL.
Trusnik is still ONU's all-time career leader in sacks (43.0) and tackles for loss (85.0).
