Community Economic Development Center offers entrepreneur workshop on ‘Leading Change’
The Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) at Ohio Northern University continues its entrepreneurship workshop series in the Dicke Forum on Tuesday, Nov. 6. The workshop will be preceded by a networking event at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will follow the networking event and conclude at 7 p.m.
The topic of the workshop will be “Leading Change” with David Hood. This event is free and open to the public.
Hood is the pastor of new church development for Ginghamsburg Church, where he serves as campus pastor at Fort McKinley Church and The Point, the church’s urban branches in Dayton, Ohio. Fort McKinley is a church “restart” that was on the brink of closing in 2008. In just three years, Fort McKinley has grown from 40 attendees to more than 400 in three Sunday morning worship celebrations.
The Point is a new church start that launched on Easter 2012 in a renovated grocery store. Beyond what God is doing inside the building, Hood is equally excited about how God is using the Fort McKinley and The Point church families outside the building. Located squarely in an urban neighborhood plagued by poverty, neglect and decline, Fort McKinley Church has taken to heart Jesus’ command to “Love our neighbors.”
Through prayer, sustained mission focus and a commitment to “Asset-Based Community Development,” The Point has begun to live its identity as “The Empowering and Transforming Center of the Community.”
