"Out of Darkness" Walk held here Sept. 24

Take a stand against suicide by walking for this cause

An "Out of Darkness" Walk for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will be held on the campus of Ohio Northern University on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 12-4 p.m..

This community walk is meant to be a time to remember those we have lost and to work to end the stigma surrounding mental health, according to Ann Johnson,
Assistant Professor of Psychology at ONU.

She said, "During this time, we will not be racing, but instead taking a stand against suicide by walking for this cause. Registration for the walk will start at 11 a.m. at the Pavillion on the Green Monster (green track surrounding the ONU campus). The community is invited and encouraged to participate.

If you would like to sign up for the walk, make a team, do it as a group and raise money for this cause here is the link: http://afsp.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.event&eventID...

If you would like to donate to the cause, you can feel free to donate with on the day of the event or online.

The AFSP tells you directly what you donate to, and what that donation funds:

• $50 brings "Truth About Suicide" to a college campus allowing people to know more about this issue.
• $100 places "More Than Sad" educational program on teen depression at a high school, allowing high school kids to learn more about depression before they are in college.
