Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present “Reefer Madness” in the Stambaugh Studio Theatre from Thursday, Oct. 18, to Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 20, and Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at 2 p.m.
Inspired by the original 1936 film of the same name, this raucous musical comedy takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the hysteria caused when clean-cut kids fall prey to marijuana, leading them on a hysterical downward spiral filled with evil jazz music, sex and violence.
Members of the cast are Ohio Northern students Kelsey Barrett (Ensemble/School Girl), a freshman musical theatre major from Wapakoneta, Ohio; Derek Brookens (Jack/Jesus), a senior musical theatre major from Port Allegany, Pa.; Mary Beth Donahoe (Mae), a junior musical theatre and Spanish double major from Lakewood, Ohio; Trevor Dorner (Lecturer/Goat Man/Mr. Poppy/FDR), a sophomore musical theatre and music double major from Perrysburg, Ohio; Regan Frese (Ensemble/Policeman), a freshman musical theatre major from Hilliard, Ohio; Kaitlyn Hartman (Mary), a freshman musical theatre and public relations double major from Findlay, Ohio; Garrett Hill (Jimmy), a freshman musical theatre major from Ridgeway, Ohio; Evan A. LaChance (Ensemble/Priest/Old Man/Detective), a sophomore musical theatre major from Dayton, Ohio; Patrick Plucinsky (Ensemble/Ticket Taker), a freshman musical theatre major from Solon, Ohio; Layne Schneider (Sally), a senior musical theatre major from Beavercreek, Ohio; Jim Scofield (Ensemble/Dad/Devil/Switch Puller), a junior musical theatre and creative writing double major from Sugarland, Texas; Timothy Swaim (Ralph), a freshman theatre major from Oregon, Ohio; Kathleen Weston (Ensemble/Soda Fountain Girl), a junior musical theatre major from Grosse Pointe, Mich.; and Breann A. Zerby (Placard Girl/Mom/Devil/Ensemble), a senior musical theatre and pharmacy major from Findlay, Ohio.
A pre-show dinner special will be offered at Padrone’s Pizza at 219 North Main Street in Ada between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, for “Reefer Madness” ticket holders. Tickets to the show will be available at Padrone’s at this time.
Tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for non-ONU students and seniors, $9 for children, and $5 for ONU students.
