Let's go climb a tree!
We thought kids were the only people who climb trees. So do adults.
Our feature photo on the top of the home page, from Monty Siekerman, shows the Tawa Tree Service at work in Ada. Here's a couple more views thanks to a zoom lens.
Here's the details on the tree climbers:
Tawa Tree Service in Ottawa was in town on Wednesday to structure trim 100 Bradford pear trees along Main Street. Some of the ornamental pears have suffered from fire blight the past couple of years; two dead trees have been removed.
The trees were trimmed to try to keep them healthy so all of the trees do not need to be replaced. The damage from fire blight is partially determined by the type of spring weather we will have.
The hope is, the white-blooming trees that border Main in the downtown will survive and thrive. The tree commission budgeted money to professionally trim trees for the next three years instead of buying new trees.
The trimming includes the pears this year and older trees the next two years.
