Ruth M. Brown, 95, died on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at 10:30 P.M. at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
She was born on June 18, 1920 in Ada, Ohio, to Ernest P. and Ethel G. (Montgomery) Klingler who preceded her in death. On Nov. 19, 1937 she married Russel A. “Bud” Brown and he died on May 9, 1999.
Ruth worked at The Ada Herald for 26 years and was also employed by Ada Schools as a High School Study Hall monitor for a few years, along with being a farmer’s wife. She was a life-time member of St. Paul’s UCC of rural Ada and attended very faithfully until December 2015.
Her hobbies included riding horses and entering her paintings in the Fine Arts Exhibits at the Hardin County Fair. Ruth and Bud enjoyed riding their horses in competition and parades. They belonged to the Ada Saddle Club as well as The Farm Bureau Council of Ada. Ruth and Bud trailered their horses to Live Oak, Florida, to their ranch for 14 years so that they could ride in the winter.
Ruth is survived by two sons: Gary (Marsha) Brown of Ada and Bruce (Kathy) Brown of Jenera; six grandchildren: Timbre (Robb) Hissong, Amber (John) Flynn, Lance Brown, Kevin Brown, Randy Brown and Kelly (Doug) Barth; several great grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Crouse of Ada; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Kent Klingler.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Rev. Scott Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 12, from 10 to 11 a.m..
